by Olivet Boys & Girls Club

Jul 26, 2022

On Thursday, July 21st, 2022, at 11:00 am, Olivet Boys & Girls Club held a press event to announce new, security camera systems that will be funded through the Berks County District Attorney’s Office. The event took place at the PAL Club at 325 Walnut Street in Reading.  These camera systems will be installed at multiple Olivet Boys & Girls Club locations to enhance safety and security throughout the organization.

Funding for these systems is covered by drug forfeiture money through the Berks County District Attorney’s office. The total amount of funds received is $36,401.21 which was presented with a large, mock check during the press event. This will allow the purchase of high-definition security cameras which will be placed primarily outside of multiple club locations to ensure that the organization can continue to provide a safe haven for thousands of youth in the local community. Safety of youth, staff, and volunteers will continue to be a top priority for the organization.

“The installation of these camera systems is a huge win for Olivet Boys & Girls Club to enhance the safety and security of our buildings, and most importantly, the youth that we serve. We are incredibly grateful to Berks County District Attorney John Adams for his support and willingness to fund this critical infrastructure need.” – Chris Winters, President and CEO, Olivet Boys & Girls Club

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire Olivet organization, we extend our deepest gratitude to District Attorney John Adams for the support to establish camera systems at our club locations. Safety and security of our club members is our top priority, and we thank the Berks County District Attorney’s office for the opportunity to enhance and expand the safe haven that we provide for youth in Reading and Berks County.” – Rachel Kuhn, Board Chairwoman, Olivet Boys & Girls Club

“These cameras will add another layer of security to the Olivet Boys and Girls Clubs and to the youth that are served by these clubs in the City of Reading. This is a great use of our drug forfeiture funds, taking the bad guy’s money to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.” – John Adams, Berks County District Attorney
