Berks County Conservation District Announces Mosquito Control Event

by Berks County Conservation District

Jul 29, 2022

The Berks County Conservation District Mosquito-Borne Disease Program will be conducting a truck mounted, ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control operation in Reading City, with a focus on the areas of 11th and Union streets and Charles Evans Cemetery.  Residential and recreational areas will be sprayed for control of adult mosquitoes.  The control work will begin around dusk on Monday, August 1st.

High populations of adult mosquitos capable of transmitting WNV have been detected in these areas.

The truck mounted ULV spray will be conducted by Berks County Conservation District.  The product used will be AquaDuet applied at a rate of 1.0 oz/ac or less.  This product is designed to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes.

Weather conditions and other unexpected events could delay or cancel this spray operation.  If this operation is cancelled, it will be rescheduled for Wednesday, August 3rd.  Please contact Jolie Coates, Mosquito-Borne Disease Control Coordinator, via email at [email protected] or phone at (610) 372-4657 ext 218 if you have any questions or concerns.
