The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) Board of Directors recognized Mr. Kevin K. Murphy as the 2022 recipient of the BCIU Outstanding Community Partner Award at their August 18, 2022, Board meeting. This is the eighth year this annual award has been conferred by the BCIU. Some of the criteria in the selection of the recipient includes the following:

Mr. Kevin K. Murphy has served as the President of Berks County Community Foundation for over a quarter of a century since its founding in 1994. He is a respected leader and champion for the residents of Berks County, serving the mission of Berks County Community Foundation to promote philanthropy to improve the quality of life for the residents of Berks County. He continues to play a key leadership role in improving the economy, health, and future of the Berks County community by assisting individuals, families, organizations, and businesses in achieving charitable objectives; helping those who are in need or facing unique challenges; strengthening schools; increasing access to food and medicine; supporting the arts; and more. In addition, Berks County Community Foundation, under his leadership, has partnered with stakeholders to administer scholarships and award funds to support local students pursuing post-secondary education. He has also supported impactful initiatives important to the education community, including the Closing of the Digital Divide Project and Berks Best.

“Mr. Murphy has remained supportive of the BCIU’s efforts and has continued to serve as a valuable resource to assist however needed. Under his leadership, Berks County Community Foundation manages hundreds of charitable funds. He has reached out to the BCIU to offer assistance and partnered with schools, businesses, and other community partners to provide opportunities to Berks County youth, connecting key stakeholders and resources to shape the best possible outcomes. He is truly deserving of being named the Berks County Intermediate Unit 2022 Outstanding Community Partner. His work will have a lasting impact on our students, our schools, the greater community, and beyond.”
