Humane PA to Clear Shelters With One-Day, Fee-Waived Adoption Event

Humane Pennsylvania is celebrating Clear The Shelters, with a one-day, fee-waived adoption event. On Saturday, August 27th, Humane Pennsylvania is giving community members the opportunity to adopt a shelter dog, cat, or critter, and ALL adoption fees will be waived at the Berks and Lancaster County adoption centers.

Clear The Shelters is an annual, nationwide pet adoption and shelter donation campaign that Humane Pennsylvania has participated in since 2015.

“We participate in Clear the Shelters every year to spread the awareness of the importance of choosing adoption.” Stated Aida May, Shelter Manager – Lancaster. “It is an exciting opportunity to help even more animals in our community find homes, in turn this boost in adoptions also allows us to help more animals who are experiencing homelessness. Remember when you choose adoption you are not only saving one life, you are saving two lives!”

Brandea Taylor, Shelter Manager – Berks stated, “This event shines a light on residents that may have been patiently waiting for their forever home to walk through the door. Day in and day out, they jump up at the sound of the door opening anticipating someone walking past and hopefully stopping to greet them. The moment when a client spots one of our longer residents wagging their tail or rubbing on the glass window, approaches the front desk, and says “There is something about this dog/cat – can I meet them?” The feeling of being chosen, accepted and loved that’s what these animals are looking for. That is what this event is truly about for me.”

Adopters wishing to provide a loving home for shelter animals are encouraged to visit the shelter campuses or HumanePA.org. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania’s diligent adoption screening process (approval is not guaranteed).
