The Reading Hospital Trauma Center, in collaboration with Lakeside Global Institute, invites healthcare staff and community advocates to attend a free training Wednesday, September 14 2 to 4 p.m., at the Thun/Janssen Auditorium at Reading Hospital, 400 S. 6th Avenue, West Reading. Although this training is intended for healthcare staff its content is beneficial to all community professionals.

Healthcare professionals can expand their knowledge to meet the needs of those they serve with additional knowledge to help them appreciate the complex nature of trauma and its aftermath.

With respect for the primary responsibilities of health professionals, this multi-media, interactive workshop sheds light on the potential deeper needs of the population they serve.

During this training, professionals will:

  • Gain basic information about trauma
  • Provide awareness of unresolved trauma in patients presenting as some of the most challenging behaviors healthcare workers may have to face
  • Learn how Adverse Childhood Experiences can impact people later in life
  • Apply Levine’s First Aid Response
  • Learn basic principles of compassion
  • Consider ways to reduce burnout

This in-person training is free and limited to 50 participants. Registration is required.
