by RIZE

Sep 14, 2022

On September 15, 2022, RIZE, as leaders in supporting efforts to preserve Pennsylvania’s rich cultural and ethnic diversity, are hosting the opening reception “Las Caras” at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts on September 15th at 5:30 PM.

A duo exhibition featuring works by Joe Conzo, NYC photographer who captured significant moments of societal and urban change in New York and across the country during the 20th century — exploring the legacy of community activism, the arts, urban change, and launching a dialogue surrounding the challenges communities continue to face today.

Berks County Photographer Don Carrick, major focal point of the exhibition will be storytelling through photography of Reading Pennsylvania Latino contributors for a political and social discussion.

In addition, the Hispanic Heritage Month Event Calendar was created in collaboration with many other local organizations and supporters. The purpose of this calendar is to highlight cultural and fun events that act as educational experiences for students, educators and the community in Reading at large. This initiative started in 2012 with the Latino Collective. Due to the pandemic we have tabled our initiative for 3 years. Our mission has always been to unite our culturally diverse communities by providing positive venues where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can come together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. “We are glad to be back in person for live events in our City and County. Let’s celebrate in LOVE and ART ” – HHM organizer, Edna Garcia-Dipini.

We would also like to remind you that all of the event hosts, organizations and supporters have a vested interest in the City of Reading as a whole. We believe in the City’s Modo Building A Better Reading Together.
