Free Day Open House at the Daniel Boone Homestead

The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates are excited to be a part of The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission’s (PHMC) Trails of History Free Day. The PHMC, the commonwealth’s official history agency, invites the public to explore the state-owned historic sites along the Pennsylvania Trails of History for free on Saturday, September 24. The Associates and their volunteers hope you will join us for tours of the Boone House and to stroll the historic area featuring seven eighteenth and early nineteenth century structures.

Saturday, September 24, 2022 • 10-4pm

The Pennsylvania Trails of History comprises museums and historic sites administered by the PHMC, organized along four theme-based “trails” crossing the commonwealth: Military History, Industrial Heritage, Historic Homes, and Rural Farm & Village. Visitors are invited to explore one or more of the trails to learn about the people, places and events that make Pennsylvania so special. The Daniel Boone Homestead is featured on the Historic Homes Trail. From modest stone houses to sprawling estates, this trail opens the door to Pennsylvania’s past. Original furnishings, gardens, outbuildings, and architectural details tell the stories of these enduring homesteads and the people who built and inhabited them.

The Daniel Boone Homestead is the birthplace of the famed frontiersman, born in 1734.  The Boone House, constructed in three stages throughout the eighteenth century, is a 10-room stone structure fully furnished to the period and situated on 579 acres of rolling countryside.  The Daniel Boone Homestead is located halfway between Reading and Pottstown, one mile north of Rt. 422 near Baumstown. The Homestead is owned by the PHMC, and daily historic operations are run by the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates, a local, nonprofit organization.  If you would like more information or would like to make a donation, please contact the Daniel Boone Homestead at 610-582-4900.
