National Window and Door Manufacturer showcases Muhlenberg Greene Architects’ 2021 GRCA Building Berks Awards Project at historic Christ Episcopal Church
Members of the public interested in historic window replacement for commercial buildings are invited to register and attend an upcoming event and tour from 4-6 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Christ Episcopal Church in Reading.
Muhlenberg Greene Architects’ (MGA) large-scale window replacement project at Christ Episcopal Church is the chosen location for the networking, presentation, and tour. MGA received the Commercial Renovation/Restoration category award at the 2021 Building Berks Awards for the project. In all, 51 windows were meticulously replaced.
Christ Episcopal Church was founded in 1762, over 250 years ago. The current historic church sanctuary was built in 1826 in the Callowhill Historic District, a regulated historic district, under the authority of the Reading Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB). A HARB Certificate of Appropriateness is required for all exterior alteration projects in the district and requires use of construction elements which maintain the historic character of the building.
Marvin’s AIA-Approved Course Window Solutions for Historic Rehabilitation Projects is a 1-hour presentation focused on the complexities surrounding the rehabilitation of an historic building: tax credits, standards and guidelines, performance requirements, and the range of product solutions available based on the building’s condition and intended use.
The presentation is designed to educate participants on the importance of fenestration in relation to the building’s exterior, provide best practices to be employed throughout the project and examine how Standards and Guidelines from the US Department of Interior are applied to window repair or window replacement. Architects in attendance will receive 1 Learning Unit (LU) as part of their participation.
Presenter Dave Aquadro is Marvin’s Architectural Project Manager covering Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. He started his career in the building and construction industry working as a contractor specializing in restoration and renovation work, owning his own business for over 22 years. Prior to joining Marvin’s team, Dave was a Territory Manager supporting commercial projects for Super Enterprises, a former Marvin distributor.
Registration in advance is required. Light fare and drinks will be available in addition to the learning session, networking, and tours of the completed project at Christ Episcopal Church.
Attendees may register for the event via two regional architectural industry organizations, SMPS Central PA, or AIA Eastern PA.
