Pennsylvania Psychologist Publishes Book of Poetry for Healing

Pennsylvania native, and local psychologist, Dr. Phillip Tietbohl, launched his second book on October 19, 2022. This book of poetry, “A Twist of Hope: Rhymes of Healing, Caring, and Love”, is full of stories of encouragement with uplifting prose, with many ties to people in and around Berks County, reminding us we are all connected.

The book features 195 poems spanning a range of selections written by the author and various groups during author-led interactive performances. For examples, the 35 group poems in Part 2, were written by children, teenagers, adults and elders as part of interactive performances and some of these events were hosted by local libraries, retirement communities, or elementary schools in Berks County. With more than 25 years of experience as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Tietbohl has learned through listening what matters and incorporates this into his work.

“I wrote a book on invalidation. This is a book on validation. Contemplation of the good things in the world.” Best selling author of Nasty People, Dr. Jay Carter.

After the successful launch of Dr. Tietbohl’s first book, Sailing to Calencia and Other Poems of Kindness, Understanding, and Love, (August, 2019) he felt the ever-pressing need for books that helped readers find support and kindness – both towards others and themselves. The importance of a book with this subject matter came to light when the COVID-19 Pandemic struck, and people all around the world were striving for connection and acceptance.

This book can be purchased on Amazon and it contains writing prompts at the end of each chapter, meant to guide readers to discovery, whether getting in touch with new feelings, emotions, or ideas or confirming existing ones.
