For the 37th year, REALTORS will gather at West Lawn United Methodist Church on Thanksgiving morning to prepare, package, and deliver meals to seniors in need throughout Berks County.
After learning that Berks Encore’s Meals on Wheels program took a break on Thanksgiving, the Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® (known as the “Board of Realtors” at the time), took over cooking and delivering meals. During the first year, approximately 20 meals were served. Thanks to generous donations from local businesses and individuals, and the help of many REALTORS and their families, approximately 200 meals will be distributed this year.
November 24, 2022 marks 37 years of Berks County’s REALTORS providing Thanksgiving dinner to local seniors. This service project is a very important tradition for the Association, as community outreach is a core tenant of what it means to be a REALTOR.
For many members, this project is a Thanksgiving family tradition and they return year over year with their spouses and children to cook a turkey, prepare or package meals, and deliver food to those unable to prepare their own Thanksgiving dinner.
This event would not be possible without the generous donation of our members time and for the various organizations throughout the area who provide food and drink for the meals.
Meals on Wheels serves individuals age 60 and over who are unable to prepare their own meals due to physical limitations and have no family or friends available to assist them.
