On Thursday, December 1, 2022, representatives from the PA Dutch Farmer’s Market of Wyomissing presented a check for $3,409.78 to the IM ABLE Foundation in support of the “Make a Splash with Davy” Project.

Funds were collected as part of the Farmer’s Market’s 12th Anniversary Celebration. Dale Longenecker of Noble Group USA LLC handles marketing for the Farmer’s Market and has run the Anniversary Celebration for the past few years. It allows the vendors to do what they do best in providing Farm Fresh products and hot/prepared foods to the general public.

Longenecker explained, “Every year the market vendors purchase a raffle prize, pay for it themselves, and then hold the raffle during the current year’s Anniversary Celebration so that all proceeds raised go directly towards the fundraiser project of the year and no funds raised get deducted to pay for the item being given away. We are proud to be a part of this process every year, and sincerely hope that any publicity gained via exposure to this check presentation will help promote others to donate to this ongoing project still in the fundraising mode.”

“Every kid, regardless of ability, deserves to have a childhood full of joy,” said IM ABLE Foundation Founder and CEO, Chris Kaag. “This Splash Pad will give Davy and the entire community a place to play with their friends and families over the summer. The support for the Splash Pad from this community has been amazing and every single donation adds up to something that will have a meaningful impact on these kids for their entire lives. We sincerely appreciate this Market, all the vendors, and everyone who contributed to make this possible.”

The donation will support IM ABLE’s partnership with Make a Splash for Davy which has raised 40% of the $200,000 goal in just three months.

Davy Craft was born with a rare neurologic disorder that has caused a variety of impairments and a severe, medication-resistant form of epilepsy. Davys family, the Womelsdorf Community, along with The IM ABLE Foundation, are on a mission to raise funds to build an accessible, inclusive splash pad at the Womelsdorf Pool.

This outdoor play area will include sprinklers, fountains, and other structures that people of all abilities can use to cool off in the summer months.

Davy’s parents, Dave, a teacher and former US Army Captain with 2 tours in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan, and Amanda, a registered nurse, recognized developmental delays in their young son. An MRI revealed that a large portion of Davy’s brain simply had not developed. Other parts failed to develop in the correct spots. Almost two years later, it was determined that the brain abnormalities were the result of a genetic disorder called Baraitser-Winter Syndrome (BWS).

At that time there were only 50 known cases worldwide and very little was known.
