Jan 24, 2023

In celebration of School Director Recognition Month, the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) formally recognized its Board of Directors for their dedicated service and valuable contributions to our students, schools, and communities at the Thursday, January 19, 2023, BCIU Board meeting.

Board members are elected officials representing the community’s voice in public education. Their work is vital to the success of our students and schools. They serve as volunteers, spending countless hours every month to fulfill their school-related responsibilities and are key decision-makers on issues such as school safety and security, budgeting, policy, hiring, and more. The 18 Board members currently serving the BCIU have a combined total of almost 80 years of service on the BCIU Board.

For the past six years, the BCIU has presented the Annual Student Artwork Showcase in recognition of the BCIU Board of Directors. This Student Artwork Showcase features one original piece of art by a high school student from each of the 18 school districts in Berks County based on a designated theme.

The theme for the 2023 Student Artwork Showcase is “What Makes our District Unique?” The artwork is displayed for a full year in the BCIU’s Board Room at the Main Office and showcased virtually on the BCIU public website.
