As part of Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest, the WCR Center for the Arts is honored to host two concerts celebrating gifted jazz musicians who hail from Berks County. The WCR is located at 140 North Fifth Street, Reading, PA. Doors open a half hour prior to show time, and parking is available at the Abraham Lincoln parking garage located on the corner of 5th and Washington Street.
On Sunday, March 26th at 3pm, Grammy Award Winning Guitarist, David Cullen, will release his first solo guitar recording in 15 years with ‘REVIVAL’. Be one of the first people to experience David’s new music in the beautiful historic hall at the WCR Center for the Arts, with acoustics just right to enjoy what Billboard magazine describes as David’s “Ferocious Fingerstyle.” This concert is made possible in part through a generous grant provided by the Reading Musical Foundation. CD’s will be available for purchase at the performance.
Saturday April 1st at 7pm, The Hot Club of Reading featuring: guitarists Josh Taylor and Michael Nikolidakis, bassist Trey LaRue, Chris Heslop on sax, clarinet, and washboard, and jack-of-all-trades Ken Gehret will be joined by special guest, Andy Roberts, who will play the WCR’s superb vintage Steinway grand piano. Hot Club of Reading’s performance combines Gypsy jazz with hot jazz to create an acoustic amalgam that really swings.
