Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) Board Members support and embody the organization’s mission and advocate for our cause. They act in the best interest of the health center and help steer it toward a sustainable future through sound ethical, legal and financial governance. We thank the dedicated, outgoing Board Members who have served, Pat Giles and Yessenia Vasquez.
We also welcome incoming members Julia Becker, Meredith Carrier, Missy Orlando, and Rosa Velez.
Incoming Board Members:
Julia Becker – Julia is currently the Development Manager at Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank and is completing United Way of Berks County’s Leadership Berks program and serves on several nonprofit committees including Opportunity House’s Wine, Women, and Shoes Fundraiser Committee. She previously served as a Penn State University’s Great Valley Campus Alumni Society Board Member, and Chairperson of Membership and Engagement for the Emerging Leaders United through the United Way of Berks County. Julie will also serve on BCHC’s Community Development Committee.
Meredith Carrier – Meredith is currently the Total Experience Learning® K to 12 Teaching Administrator at Albright College where she leads the curriculum. Previously she served as a secondary biology teacher at Governor Mifflin High School. Her interests include basketball, having played professionally, and reading. Meredith will serve on the Quality committee.
Missy Orlando – Missy is currently the Senior Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development at Alvernia University. Her previous experience includes Vice President, Senior Director of Development at Penn State Health St. Joseph and Founder and Chief Strategist at Strategy12 Consulting, Inc. Missy serves on the United Way of Berks County Board of Directors, LGBTQ Center of Greater Reading Board of Directors, Latino Workforce Development / Berks Tec Board of Directors and SafeBerks Board of Directors. Missy will be chairing BCHC’s Community Development Committee.
Rosa Velez – Rosa currently serves as the Berks Encore Director of PA-MEDI providing insurance counseling and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries. Rosa also oversees all volunteer recruitment and training. Rosa will serve on the Patient Advisory Committee.
Outgoing Board Members:
Pat Giles – Pat is a founding member of BCHC serving as an Advisory Member from 2012-2016 and a Board Member from 2016-2022, serving as Chair 2019-2021. Pat was a member of Finance, Governance, Strategic Planning committees and Chair of the Community Development committee. Pat is being honored with BCHC’s Civitas Award at their Picture Berks Healthy event on March 20, 2023.
Yessenia Vasquez – Yessenia served on BCHC’s board from 2016-2022 and chaired the Patient Advisory committee.
