The Reading Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Brahms famous 4th Symphony will transport you to another place and time on March 4th, 2023.

The concert will open with Anna Clyne’s This Midnight Hour. Cast in a single movement with a performance duration of approximately 12 minutes, the music was inspired by two poems: “La Musica” by Juan Ramón Jiménez and “Harmonie du soir” by Charles Baudelaire. Clyne’s intent of this piece was to evoke a “visual journey for the listener”.

The Reading Symphony Orchestra will then perform Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with the assistance of guest artist, Terrence Wilson. Acclaimed by the Baltimore Sun as the “one of the biggest pianistic talents to have emerged in this country in the last 25 year” pianist Terrence Wilson has appeared as soloist with the symphony orchestras of Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Washington, DC (National Symphony) and many others.

The concert will conclude with the much awaited Brahms Symphony No. 4. Brahms’s achievement in the Fourth Symphony is the ferocity and concentration of expression that is achieved and the Reading Symphony Orchestra will not disappoint.

“Our March concert is full of beautiful melodies right from the first piece to the final chords of the Brahms Symphony. It is a concert that will surely satisfy the most discerning listener,” shares David Gross, Executive Director of the RSO. “We’re looking forward to Terrence Wilson’s performance with the Reading Symphony Orchestra. He is a brilliant pianist.”

Conducted by Reading Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director, Andrew Constantine the March 4, 2023, performance will also include Anna Clyne’s This Midnight Hour, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, and Brahms Symphony No. 4.
