Every unit in the Marine Corps has an unofficial “Motivator” who inspires his or her teammates to push themselves towards the common goal. They lift those around them up and make sure the team finishes as one. Through the Motivator of the Year Award, IM ABLE recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a sustained, selfless dedication to rallying people around them to join them on their mission to increase opportunities for people of all abilities to participate in sports.
IM ABLE invites you to the BASH on March 18 to join us as we honor our 2023 Motivator of the Year, Tonya Petrunak.
Tonya has spent 15 years in professional baseball with the Reading Fightin’ Phils. She oversees Reading Fightin’ Phils marketing efforts, as well as all Baseballtown Charities fundraising, operations, and programs which includes Rip It Baseballtown Training Facility, Rip It for Life and the Baseballtown Dream League.
Through her passion and innovation, Tonya helped develop and launch the Baseballtown’s Dream League in 2017 to provide everyone, regardless of physical and mental ability, the chance to experience the magic of playing sports. Because of Tonya’s leadership at the Dream League, over 200 players and 1,000 volunteers each season have the opportunity to the play baseball, regardless of experience or ability. The Savage 61 Dream Field is a custom-designed turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping to prevent injuries.
