Join the League of Women Voters of Berks County as they discuss: “What’s On Your Ballot?” 2023 Primary on BCTV, Tuesday April 11th, 2023 8pm-9pm.
On May 16th voters will select candidates for the fall election for up to 17 different government positions. Learn what those elected government positions are responsible for so you can determine whether the candidates on your ballot are qualified for these jobs. Learn about cross-filing and changing your party affiliation to participate in the election reserved for Democrats and Republicans voters only.
Guests include:
- Paul Janssen has served as Director of the Center for Excellence in Local Government at Albright College since 2012. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Bloomsburg University and a Masters in Public Administration from The American University. Paul was a township or city manager for more than 25 years in four municipalities in Pennsylvania. Paul also was a consultant to local government and non-profits over the past six years including a 30-month commitment as an interim borough manager. Paul also served as Coordinator for the Consortium of Communities for Montgomery and Chester County.
- Judge Art Grim – The Hon Arthur E Grim (Ret.) served as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas from 1988 through 2007, specializing in juvenile justice. He served as President Judge of the 23rd Judicial District of the Court of Common Pleas from 2004 to 2008.
- Kevin S. Barnhardt was recently named Chief Operating Officer for Berks County. He previously served fourteen years as Berks County Commissioner. He prior served nine years as Mayor of West Reading Borough and 15 years on that Borough Council. He spent thirty years in private industry in sales, marketing, merchandising, purchasing and management, primarily in the wholesale food industry.
