On Wednesday, Mayor Eddie Morán issued the following statement announcing the 2023 season of City Downtown activities starting on Friday, May 5th, at 5 pm:
“I am very excited to announce the start of the 2023 season of City events in #DowntownRDG.
To kick off our 2023 season, we have our First Friday Downtown Block Party event scheduled for May 5th on the 600 block of Penn Street. This event series provides an opportunity to promote and engage our small businesses and organizations while enjoying a fun and vibrant atmosphere in our own downtown with entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities.
The First Friday Cinco de Mayo celebration will include music provided by Red Tie Affairs, a beer garden powered by Chatty Monks and a folkloric dance performance by Barrio Alegria’s Grupo Uarhani. In addition, there will be bouncy houses, face painting, and other games and fun things to do.
This is just the beginning of an exciting season for #DowntownRDG. Join us this Friday for this first event, and keep an eye out for additional collaborations throughout the summer as well as supporting the existing events many of our local businesses and organizations have planned.”
First Friday Downtown Block Parties will occur on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 9pm through September.
