Final Performance of RSO Season Features Latin-Flavored Music with a GRAMMY®-Nominated Artist

Reading Symphony Orchestra, Andrew Constantine, Conductor, and special guest, JP Jofre, at the Santander Performing Arts Center.

The night begins with Argentinian composer, Alberto Ginastera and his ballet, Four Dances. The ballet is about rural life in Argentina, opening with workers in a field and ending with a furious dance by the gauchos of Argentina.

Following Four Dances comes music with a Bandoneon, which is a type of accordian. Performer, JP Jofre will delight the audience with Piazzolla’s Bandoneon Concerto and Jofre’s own Concerto for Bandoneon and Violin.

Jofre is a native to San Juan, Argentina and is a GRAMMY® Award-nominated composer and bandoneon player. His music has been recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, 16 times Grammy winner Paquito D’ Rivera, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, to name a few. He has given Google Talks, TEDtalks, and performed and given lectures at the Julliard School of Music. You won’t want to miss this performance by such an acclaimed artist.

Finally, on closing night, will be deFalla’s Three Cornered Hat, Suite No. 2. DeFalla is considered to be the most distinguished Spanish composer of the early 20th century.

“I am thrilled to invite you to an unforgettable evening of Latin-inspired music, showcasing the vibrant rhythms of Ginastera’s Estancia and Manuel deFalla’s Three Cornered Hat, along with the mesmerizing sounds of the Bandoneon – an instrument beloved in Argentina and Uruguay.” Shared David Gross, Executive Director of the Reading Symphony Orchestra. “Our Featured soloist JP Jofre, with his extraordinary mastery, will enchant you with his performance of the Piazzolla Concerto for Bandoneone, as well as one of his own works. This is a night not to be missed!”

As Reading Symphony Orchestra’s Conductor and Music Director Andrew Constantine said, the Orchestra has “saved the most colorful for last.”
