Spotlight on the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation

by The Berks Alliance

May 24, 2023

Launched in 2019, the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation was created to foster self-sufficiency particularly in the Berks County Latino community, enabling people to move out of poverty.  They provide an array of education, training and support services to empower these county residents to take control of their future.  And through this work they enrich the fabric of the entire community.

The Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation is a strategic partner in helping to foster a wealthier, healthier and more vibrant community.  They offer HiSET, GED and ESL programs, as well as financial and digital literacy training.  They provide career development support services.  Recently they have added programs in allied health fields, including training for nurse aides, phlebotomists and will be phasing in their medical assistant program in late 2023.  They are working with partner organizations to launch a culinary arts program in September 2023.

They have plans to add several trades programs over the coming months.  The BLWDC programs have proven so popular that they have a waiting list for all of the current programs.  Housed in a school building on South 6th Street in Reading, Tec Centro and the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation have become agents of change in Berks County.

Join us to learn more about the Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation, Tec Centro Berks and the change that they are bringing to our community.
