Miller Center Announces More Shows for 2023-24 Season

In celebration of Spanish Heritage month Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s Dia de los Muertos is coming to the Miller Center Friday, October 13th, 2023. Using both folk and classical music and dance this show explores a love story that spans the boundary between the living and the departed. Get your tissues ready as we follow a loving couple that falls victim to treachery and is separated, seemingly forever. The young woman enters Mictlán- the underworld of Aztec mythology- where the mesmerizing Catrina reigns as queen.

The original concept for “Dia de los Muertos” was a show by Calpulli premiered in 2004 at Queens Theatre in the Park named “Tiempo de Cempazuchitl/ Time of the Marigold.” Then Artistic Director Noemy Hernandez created Calpulli’s first story-based production of “Dia de los Muertos” in 2012 premiered at the Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University.  The final production of story was premiered at Queens Theatre in 2016 under the Artistic Direction of Alberto Lopez Herrera, Dramaturg and co-story writer Roberto Lara, with Music Direction by George Saenz.

Constantine Maroulis is coming to the Miller Center for a cabaret style performance on Thursday, November 2, 2023! He is an American actor and rock singer. He first came to prominence as the beloved rock n’ roll underdog on American Idol, later securing a place in pop culture as a Broadway superstar in the, 5-time, tony nominated show Rock of Ages. He has since begun a promising new era with a plethora of intriguing projects, including putting the finishing touches on his most assured and swaggering solo music to date!

For the third year in a row the Miller Center is excited to host The Machine! On Saturday, April 27, 2024 they come to Reading to perform Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon album as well as other fan favorites. The Machine has forged a 30+ year reputation of extending the musical legacy of Pink Floyd. The New York-based quartet performs a diverse mix of The Floyd’s extensive 16-album repertoire, complete with faithful renditions of popular hits as well as obscure gems.

With stellar musicianship and passionate delivery, The Machine explores collective improvisation rivaling that of an early 1970’s Pink Floyd, while their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays and lighting continues The Floyd spirit of the 1980’s.

The Machine has sold out theaters, premier showcase rooms and casinos across North America, Europe and Asia, performed at renowned music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Riverbend, and Gathering of the Vibes, and shared the stage with full symphony orchestras, including the Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Charlotte and San Diego Symphonies, as well as the Buffalo Philharmonic.

The Forests and Shores of Acadia, Jill Haley’s latest release about music she wrote while an Artist in Residence at Acadia National Par, is coming to the Miller Center on Sunday, November 3, 2023 at 3pm. She creates and performs programs of the national park music with video of the images that inspired the music. Opening for her in this performance is the guitarist David Cullen, known for wide range of styles including classical, jazz, and world music. Combining audio and visuals, this show is sure to be captivating for all your senses!
