Reading Theater Project, JCWK Dance Lab Collaboration: In Nature’s Studio

Two performance companies work together to present new work outdoors

The Reading Theater Project and JCWK Dance Lab have issued a call for artists for In Nature’s Studio, an outdoor performance event at the Reading Public Museum Arboretum, 500 Museum Road, Reading, Pennsylvania. The performance will take place Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 4pm to 5:30pm, and is free to attend.

The theme for this year’s production is bringing the museum’s indoor collection outdoors and into the Arboretum in celebration of the 275th anniversary of the city of Reading. Performing artists will depict or interpret the paintings, sculptures, civilization and science exhibits through theater, music and movement. This production is produced in partnership with the Reading Public Museum and JCWK Dance Lab. Project directors are: Joel Gori, theater, Jessica Warchal-King, dance, and Chris Heslop, music.

Writers and performers are encouraged to submit an original performance idea (no longer than 5 minutes) for consideration. Actors and dancers are also encouraged to submit to perform. Writers and rehearsed performers will be paid a stipend.

The submission deadline is Wednesday, June 21. More information can be found at: https://www.readingtheaterproject.org/
