The Highlands at Wyomissing® Residents Award $15,000 in Scholarships to Employees

The Highlands at Wyomissing ® resident-led Scholarship Committee recently hosted its annual scholarship award ceremony and reception to present $1,000 scholarships to 15 employees seeking to advance their careers.

Employees, their families, and residents attended the joyful event on June 7 to celebrate and honor these dedicated employees. The Highlands at Wyomissing Scholarship program was established in 2019 with a mission of providing financial support in the form of scholarships to team members attending a traditional college or university, community college, trade school, or seeking to obtain an accredited advanced certificate. To date, this program has awarded $38,000.00 in scholarships and raised almost $250,000.00, with the goal of creating an endowment fund that will allow for the continued support of the employees and their educational and career development goals.

“We are delighted to celebrate the success of our resident-led Scholarship Fund.  It is with great pride that the resident-led Scholarship Committee awarded these scholarships to such deserving employees, who are passionately pursuing their academic aspirations. Since the inception of this program, the committee has granted an impressive total of 38 scholarships, empowering our dedicated employees to pursue their educational dreams. Together, we are creating a community that values growth, learning, and the unwavering support of one another.” said Kevin DeAcosta, President, and CEO of The Highlands at Wyomissing. “We also want to recognize the Scholarship Fund Committee and its members Barbara Kline, (Chairman), Amy Reinsel, Sue Wachs, Dr. George Gerhart, Robert Longenecker, and Jack Boyle, for their hard work and dedication in making this event a success.”

To be eligible, employees had to have worked for The Highlands for a minimum of one year, demonstrate post-high school plans, and be an employee in good standing. Each eligible employee interested in this scholarship opportunity submitted an essay to the Scholarship Committee discussing their career goals and how working at The Highlands will help them achieve these goals.
