Muhlenberg Township Announces 2023 Drift Jam, Summer Concert Series

The Muhlenberg Township Parks and Recreation Department has announced dates and times for the 2023 Drift Jam and Summer Concert Series taking place at Jim Dietrich Park.

The Drift Jam is a relatively new event for Muhlenberg Township.  The first part is a lazy afternoon floating down the Schuylkill River from the Leesport area in a kayak to Jim Dietrich Park on Saturday, July 15th.  We will meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at 12 noon. then travel to the Leesport Post Office located at (4 East Wall St. Leesport 19533) to gain access to the river.  Rental equipment and shuttling service will be provided by Take IT Outdoors (TIO) and includes a kayak, paddles, and life jackets for $65/person.  If you have your own equipment the shuttle will only be $20/person.

All participants are required pre-register, wear a life vest and sign a waiver form.  Registration for the event and equipment is available online at www.muhlenbergtwp.com under facility and program rentals from now until July 12th.

The second part is the JAM in front of the farmhouse at Jim Dietrich Park. Bring your own chair, sit back and relax while listening to Trouble City All Stars from 4 to 5:30PM and Bad Slice 6 to 9PM. There is no outside beverages allowed at this event.  Local Scout Troop #155 and the Muhlenberg Community Library will be on hand for food purchases.  Please support their efforts. Adult beverages will be sold in the beer tent area.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRIFT TO ENJOY THE JAM.  All are welcome.  For more information, call 610-929-4727 or check out the Facebook event page.

Would you like to sit back in your lawn chair, with the beautiful view of the river to your left on a Friday night listening to free music?  If you would, then you need to visit Jim Dietrich Park for the Summer Concert Series from 6 to 8:30PM every other Friday.  This year’s line-up is as follows:

The POP Truck from Pollen Consolidated with adult beverages will also be on site for these concerts.  You are welcome to bring your own dinner but no outside beverages please.  The Muhlenberg Arts Board is the sponsoring agency for these concerts.  A donation jar will be passed around at intermission time, if you would like to donate to keep the concerts coming.  If you need further details, please call the Muhlenberg Township at 610-929-4727.  All are welcome to attend.  Hope to see you there.
