In the event’s second year, Keller Williams Platinum Realty in Wyomissing was proud to support Miles for Maria on Sunday, August 13, 2023. The event is held in honor of Maria Carannante, sister of Keller Williams agent Gabriella Calloway, who lost her battle against metastatic breast cancer at 31 years of age in 2021.
“We chose a run to honor Maria because when it comes to breast cancer, you have to fight for a change and a cure. When you’re running, you have to fight through discomfort, just like those battling the disease,” said Gabriella of the 5K and 1-mile Fun Run.
More than 250 runners came to support the cause, raising more than $7,500 for METAvivor, including 23 fellow Keller Williams agents and their family members, which came as no surprise to Gabriella.
“Keller Williams is a family. We are a competitive industry, but at Keller Williams we work together and support each other not only professionally, but personally. We truly value each other. Having my team join me at the 2nd Annual Miles for Maria meant the world to me,” said Gabriella, the 2022 recipient of the Keller Williams Platinum Realty Dee Abreu Shaughnessy Fighting Spirit Award.
METAvivor is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of advanced breast cancer and equity in research and patient support. It solely funds metastatic breast cancer research.
