Berks History Center’s Self-Guided Landmark Tour Returns

Berks History Center (BHC) is excited for the return of its popular annual event, the Road Ramble, taking place on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Road Ramble is a self-guided driving tour that introduces attendees to little-known facts about historical sites throughout the county. This year, participants can hop in the car with the whole family and ramble between Leesport, Pa. and Kutztown, Pa.

The Fall 2023 route heads off the beaten path and highlights a blend of historic structures, scenic vistas, locations associated with local folklore, and notable sites such as Crystal Cave, Deerfoot Vineyards and Winery, Ontelaunee Lake, Kutztown Area Historical Society, Dunkel’s Church, Dreibelbis Farm, and the Berks Graffiti Bridge.

“The Road Ramble is a day-long adventure that allows community members to explore Berks County’s past and present,” said BHC Assistant Director, Bradley Smith. “Much of this year’s route and tour locations are purposefully remote and are intended to provide new perspectives on our county’s rich history.”

This year’s event begins at the Schuylkill Valley High School in Leesport, Pa. and concludes at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center in Kutztown, Pa.

Tickets for the Fall 2023 Road Ramble cost $35/car for BHC Members and $45/car for non-members and can be purchased online at berkshistory.org. Tickets for the general public go on sale this Friday, September 1, 2023.

This event is sponsored by Penske, PALO Magazine, Univest Financial, East Penn Manufacturing, M&T Bank, Visions Federal Credit Union, Kreitz Gallen-Schutt Attorneys, All County and Associates, Inc., Fleetwood Bank, Tompkins Community Bank, Utilities Employees Credit Union, Entech Engineering, Inc., Richard R.
