BCTV Highlights Local Resources for National Recovery Month

Continuing its monthly health campaign series, Berks Community Television (BCTV) will be sharing facts, statistics, and resources during the month of September for National Recovery Month. The campaign aims to educate the community on the reality of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

“Recovery is a highly individualized and life long process of improved physical, social, emotional, and psychological health and well being,” according to the Council on Chemical Abuse (COCA). “At its foundation, recovery requires abstinence from all mind and mood-altering substances, however, abstinence alone is not recovery.”

Throughout September, BCTV will highlight important information and resources to help foster discussion around addiction and recovery.

COCA also encourages Berks Countians who have experienced addiction to share their stories of recovery with #RecoveryOutLoudBerks.

“Sharing about your recovery shatters other’s perceptions about addiction. This does not mean breaking anonymity, but rather sharing how recovery has changed your life for the better.”

Berks Community Television is committed to improving the health and well-being of the Berks County community. We encourage everyone to join us in this important effort by following our social media platforms throughout the month of September.
