Berks County Medical Society to Host Community Summit on Commissioner’s Health Study

Berks County Medical Society will host a “Community Health Checkup” conversation to review recommendations contained in the Berks County Commissioner’s recent study. The Spring 2023 report issued by Health Management Associates on behalf of the Board outlined four major recommendations to help Berks County protect access to high-quality public health services.

The conversation featuring panels of local community leaders and health experts will be led by Joe Watkins, former presidential aide, and nationally recognized media personality. Watkins is the host of a half-hour public affairs program, State of Independence—broadcasted in our region on WBPH-49 and cable on Lighthouse TV.

“The commissioner’s study was welcome news for those concerned that Berks County needed to be able to maintain clear communication and local control during public health emergencies,” said T.J. Huckleberry, Executive Director of Berks County Medical Society. “Our two-hour forum will be a practical way for Berks County leaders to get practical answers and next steps.”
