Berks Alliance to Host Community Forum of Strategies for a Sustainable Tomorrow

Berks Alliance is scheduled to host a community forum on Strategies for a Sustainable Tomorrow on Thursday, Nov. 16, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Sustainability: Strategies to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations. Communities have been confronted with mounting challenges:

Nations, states, municipalities, corporations, and institutions around the globe are developing strategies to enable them to address current and emerging needs while protecting resources for the future—the concept of sustainability.

In many cases, businesses have led the way in incorporating these concepts of sustainability into their business strategies, creating value for the business, now and for the future.

Join us to learn more about how local governments and businesses are incorporating the concepts of sustainability into their planning. The City of Reading Department of Public Works Sustainability Director will share how the City has positioned itself at the forefront of PA cities in building resilience through a Local Climate Action Plan. The Environmental Advisory Council, in support of the City’s efforts, is trying to stimulate community conversations and engagement to identify priorities in all of our neighborhoods. At the core of this strategy is the understanding that a resilient and sustainable city can adapt to changing conditions, protect the environmental and community health, and create a cohesive and vibrant sense of place. Two local industry leaders have been invited to share how they are embedding these strategies into their operations.
