Greater Reading is on the rise, fueled by innovation, community impact, and positive economic growth. Every two years, the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) hosts the Building Berks Awards & Expo, an event designed to honor the collaborative efforts of businesses, professionals, and community leaders working together to enhance community and economic growth.
In 2023, 30 nominated projects across 15 categories such as commercial, residential, and industrial, and new category placemaking represented projects that have not only driven economic growth but have also enhanced the quality of life for Berks County residents. These projects are a snapshot of the exciting investments made in Greater Reading over the last 18 months—a testament to the community’s growth.
While these nominated projects represent a glimpse of our area’s development, they reflect our region’s progress and revitalization. Greater Reading’s future looks promising, and together, we’re shaping a vibrant, prosperous place for people and businesses to live, work, and thrive.
The 2023 nominated projects represent:
- $148 million in investment.
- 1.2 million-square-feet of development.
- 2,100 jobs created/retained.
Since the first event in 2018, all nominated projects represent:
- $849 million in investment.
- 7.8 million-square-feet of development.
- 11,325 jobs created/retained.
