Terrestrial Entertainment, in association with Marabella Enterprises, is proud to announce the world premiere of the feature film FLASHLIGHT on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m., in the Boscov Film Theatre, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts.
Surviving a traumatic childhood can be difficult enough, but when unexplainable phenomena occur, it’s even more challenging for Charlie to move forward in her life. While trying to make ends meet with her cleaning business, she receives mysterious phone calls that push her to reluctantly investigate the disappearance of her father.
This mystery/suspense narrative, shot entirely in Berks County, is the fifth film and first feature film from Wyomissing native Justen Patrick Lander. Lander, who wrote and directed FLASHLIGHT, is no stranger to shooting films in his hometown. Three of his previous projects, AMERICAN STANDARD, GEIST, and GOOD INTENTIONS (all shorts), were also shot in Berks County. In addition to his own work, Lander has lent his talent to other projects, most recently, as director of photography for FROM THE RIVER from filmmaker Tracy Schott.
FLASHLIGHT features talent from the region, including Nia Vega (Charlie), Bill McLaughlin (Horace), Jackie Alberico (Charlie’s Mother), Cindy Estock (Nurse), and Dale Gresh (MIB). Kemeul Charles, Tyrell Thomas, and Scott Kunkle were members of the crew, with Kunkle and Santo D. Marabella producing, along with Lander.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the premiere of FLASHLIGHT, a captivating and locally crafted film that showcases the talent and creativity thriving in our community. Justen Patrick Lander, a Wyomissing native, has once again demonstrated his filmmaking ability by delivering a suspenseful narrative shot entirely in Berks County. On behalf of the ReadingFilm Office, I commend Lander and the entire cast and crew for their dedication to the art of storytelling. FLASHLIGHT exemplifies the collaborative spirit that defines our local filmmaking community,” said Cammie Harris, executive director of ReadingFilm Office.
