Albright College and NAACP Offer MLK Day Events

Albright College will host two events celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, Jan. 14, and Monday, Jan. 15. Co-sponsored by the NAACP of Reading and the Reading and Vicinity Ministerial Association (RVMA), both events are free and open to the public.

Jan. 14, 3:30 p.m. — A community worship service will be held to honor King’s legacy as a preacher. Bruce Alick, D.Min., Zion Baptist Church, will be the guest preacher, and his choir will provide the music in Albright’s Merner-Pfieffer-Klein Memorial Chapel.

Jan. 15, 5 p.m. — A community celebration recognizing King’s efforts as a community organizer and champion for young people will feature a community youth choir along with other local church choirs performing. Other talents, such as praise dance and spoken word, will be highlighted. Several young people from Berks County will be honored during this event held at Albright’s Merner-Pfieffer-Klein Memorial Chapel.
