Art at Wyomissing Public Library

Mike Miller, project director of the Berks Community Murals Project, will talk about the project at the Wyomissing Public Library on Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m.

Miller, former art teacher at the Wyomissing Area School District, currently teaches art and art history at Albright College, where he is the Artist in Residence besides directing the Murals Project. In addition to the murals in downtown Reading and around the county, he has directed and assisted in painting the murals in West Reading, including Dean’s Way and Kimberton Whole Foods.

Mr. Miller will talk about site selection, mural themes, and how the work of the project helps to build community. If people have questions they would like him to address, they may be emailed to [email protected] before the presentation on March 6.

On Friday, March 8, the library will offer another “Art for Adults” series with local artist Sara Miller (no relation). The 90-minute classes will be held at 1 p.m. on four Fridays – 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, and 4/5, and are limited to 15 people. The cost is $25 for the series, payable on or before March 8. Students will learn how to create an embroidered bookmark, including how to transfer simple patterns, basic embroidery stitches, and finishing techniques. No experience is required. To register, email [email protected] or call the library at 610-374-5382.
