Pennsylvania Craftsmen Construction Company to Display Expertise at Kutztown Folk Festival

by Pennsylvania Craftsmen Construction Company

Eugene Kehler, proprietor of Pennsylvania Craftsmen Construction Company, is set to display his expertise in timber framing at the upcoming Kutztown Folk Festival from June 29 to July 7. With over 25 years of experience in historic restoration, Eugene has restored numerous landmarks in the region, including the Pleasantville Covered Bridge and Bob’s Mill.

At the festival, Eugene will enlighten the public on the traditional craft of timber framing. Using tools from the 1800s, he will transform logs into beams and construct a timber frame structure.

Notably, Eugene serves as a board member of the Boyertown Area Historical Society, which recently acquired the historic Bahr’s Mill in Gablesville, PA. Dating back to the late 1800s, Bahr’s Mill is renowned for its woodworking and corn-grinding operations. Among its original features was the W.K. Heacock Blacksmith and Harness Shop. Eugene will actively recreate this structure during the festival, with plans to dismantle and reconstruct it at Bahr’s Mill.

The historical society plans to host a barn-raising-type event, inviting the public to witness the rebuilding process firsthand.

Come to the Kutztown Folk Festival and watch history in the making!
