The City of Reading and the Reading Recreation Commission are excited to announce that the Schlegel Park Pool, one of the largest public pools in Berks County, is now open for the 2024 season! Starting June 6, residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of amenities and upgraded facilities throughout the summer.

Schlegel Park Pool offers a large recreational pool, pickleball court, basketball court, pavilion, picnic tables, benches, and a concession stand, making it a perfect destination for family fun and relaxation. This year, we are pleased to announce an upgrade to our pool’s circulation system, ensuring a cleaner and more enjoyable swimming experience for all.

Mayor Eddie Morán expressed his enthusiasm for the season, saying, “The opening of Schlegel Park Pool marks the beginning of another wonderful summer in Reading. Our upgrades ensure that families and individuals can enjoy safe, fun, and refreshing activities all season long.”

Daphne Klahr, Executive Director of the Reading Recreation Commission, added, “We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to Schlegel Park Pool. With the new circulation system and a range of amenities, we are committed to providing the best recreational experience for our community.”

2024 Hours of Operation:

Please note the pool will be closed from Aug. 26 to Aug. 30.
