The City of Reading is excited for Downtown Reading’s upcoming First Friday event being held on Friday, Aug. 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., on the 600 block of Penn Street. This event promises an evening filled with live music, art, culture, and community fun.
Attendees can enjoy live music by Orquesta Tropikal and DJ Houdini, a domino tournament hosted by City staff, a rock climbing wall, a cocktail garden by Casa W. Distillery, as well as delicious food from established businesses and area food vendors, including El Sandwichon Food Truck, Handy Dandy Odds and Ends with seasonal food, drink, and dessert items, and New York Place with flautas, tacos, and agua frescas.
There will be a variety of goods, information, and activities by local businesses and organizations, such as All-American Homecare with home care and state program information, Berks County’s Election Services with voter information, Dee Fashions by Mayra with gold-plated jewelry and accessories, Glitter Me with braids, tinsel, stencil glitter tattoos, glitter freckles, and glitter art, Middle Era Clothing Line, Nemesis Fitness, Pixels in Print with customized totes, drinkware, and more, Sparkle and Shine with face painting, glitter tattoos, and festival bubble braid, The Poet Smiley with custom poetry, Unitas Domas with handcrafted candles, soaps, facial creams, herbal teas, and other wellness products.
The event will also feature a photobooth, cornhole, Jumbo Jenga, Connect Four, a tie-dye station, a bubble station, and other kid-friendly activities. The City of Reading invites the community near and far to join for a relaxing evening of fun, food, and art in Downtown Reading. This is a family-friendly atmosphere for all ages to enjoy.
