From Barley Snyder
Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that Hyo Jin (“Jinnie”) Lee has joined the firm as an attorney in its Food & Agribusiness Industry Group, where she will support clients navigating the complex legal and regulatory issues impacting today’s food system.
Lee brings a distinctive background that blends legal training, international experience, and extensive firsthand knowledge of the food industry. At Barley Snyder, she will work alongside attorneys advising producers, processors, and food companies on transactional matters, regulatory compliance, and domestic and international food and agribusiness issues. She will also support the firm’s work advising clients on domestic and international regulatory and commercial matters, including monitoring tariff developments and assisting businesses in responding to evolving international trade regulations.
“Jinnie’s academic focus and industry experience set her apart,” said Tim Dietrich, chair of Barley Snyder’s Food & Agribusiness Industry Group. “She has a deep understanding of the food system and the food and agricultural industries. We’re excited to have her join our group as she begins her legal career and continues to grow her practice.”
Prior to joining Barley Snyder, Lee served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Berks County Court of Common Pleas, where she assisted the court with legal research and drafting judicial opinions and orders, and supported proceedings across multiple areas of law.
Before earning her Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Lee built a distinguished career in the food industry. She founded Hyo Jin Lee’s Baking Class in Seoul, South Korea, where she taught more than 3,000 students and operated a nationwide custom dessert business for nearly a decade. She later completed Pastry Chef Training at Le Cordon Bleu, gaining classical culinary skills and an in-depth understanding of food production and safety from an international perspective. She has also cultivated a significant social media following, using her platform to share cooking tutorials and engage with a global audience of food enthusiasts.
Lee holds a master’s degree in Nutrition & Food Studies from NYU Steinhardt as well as a master’s degree in International Studies from Seoul National University. Her entrepreneurial experience also includes publishing several cookbooks and collaborating with a leading ceramics company to design a line of tableware. During law school, Lee completed a series of internships focused on food and agricultural law with organizations including the National Agricultural Law Center and the Consumer Federation of America. She also gained international experience through internships in Tokyo.
“I’m thrilled to join Barley Snyder as I begin my legal career,” Lee said. “The firm’s commitment to the food and agribusiness industry aligns perfectly with my background and interests. I look forward to learning from this talented team and contributing my perspective as we help clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.”
Lee is currently pursuing her LL.M. in Agricultural & Food Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law, the nation’s first and one of the most respected programs dedicated to the legal complexities of the food system. She has lived in several countries throughout her academic and professional career, including South Korea, Paraguay, Finland, Japan, and the United States. Originally from South Korea, Lee now resides in Sinking Spring, PA. She is fluent in Korean, English, and Japanese.
