Connections Work proudly announces its Spring Career Fair, taking place on Monday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading.
This event is open to community members, including those who are currently on probation or parole, or who have past involvement in the criminal justice system or domestic relations. The Career Fair is designed to connect job seekers with local employers who are committed to offering fair-chance employment opportunities, pathways that can be truly life-changing.
“Companies in Berks continue to be challenged by the current labor market and need to engage with all available resources to attract new employees. The Connections Work Job Fair is a great way to meet potential employees that may not be familiar with their company and its opportunities,” said Amber Columbo, Director, Berks County Workforce Development Board.
Connections Work anticipates welcoming over 30 leading employers, including New Castle Lawn and Landscape, Construction Master Services (CMS), Tower Health, Brentwood Industries, East Penn Manufacturing, and Redner’s, alongside several local social service providers. Together, these organizations are helping to strengthen the local workforce and open doors for individuals eager to build a brighter future.
To ensure every job seeker has the support they need, volunteers will be available on-site to assist with applications, conduct mock interviews, and provide job-readiness coaching. Thanks to the Berks County Library System, laptops will be provided so job seekers can complete online applications during the event.
As the leading provider of reentry workforce development programming in Berks County, Connections Work equips individuals facing barriers to employment with the tools and skills necessary to succeed in the workplace. Stable, living-wage employment is one of the most important factors in successful reentry, and Connections Work is proud to partner with employers across the region to match job seekers with opportunities that fit both their skills and employers’ needs.
“Employment has the power to change lives, not only for individuals, but for families and entire communities. Our Career Fair is about building meaningful connections and helping people take the next step toward a more stable and hopeful future,” said Nikki Schnovel, Co-Executive Director, Connections Work.
