Several Municipalities Authorize Berks County Treasurer to Act as Tax Collector

Union Township, West Reading Borough, and Sinking Spring Borough residents and property owners are advised of an important change regarding the collection of annual real estate taxes. Effective Jan. 1, 2026, the Berks County Treasurer, Michell R. Darcourt, and the Berks County Treasurer’s Office will serve as the official Tax Collector for county and borough real estate taxes for Union Township, West Reading Borough, and Sinking Spring Borough.

Union Township, West Reading Borough, and Sinking Spring Borough have passed resolutions authorizing the county Treasurer’s Office to fulfill the tax collection duties on their behalf.

Beginning in 2026, Union Township, West Reading Borough, and Sinking Spring Borough property owners should:
