830 WEEU Launches Berks County Theater Awards

From 830 WEEU

830 WEEU is proud to announce the inception of the Berks County Theater Awards. Centered around the pillars of inclusion, celebration, and community pride, the Berks County Theater Awards will showcase the talent of Berks County students in the performing arts.

All Berks County high schools, regardless of size or experience, are invited and encouraged to participate in the awards program, which will culminate with the first annual Berks County Theater Awards Show on Thursday, May 13, 2027, at the Santander Performing Arts Center. Many have already committed, and those with additional questions can reach out to WEEU at hstheater@830weeu.com.

“WEEU is incredibly proud to bring the Berks County Theater Awards to life—an event that celebrates the extraordinary talent of our local students while strengthening the cultural heartbeat of our community. This is more than an awards show; it’s an opportunity to recognize hard work, inspire the next generation, and unite Berks County around the power of the arts,” said Kristine Treese, President & Owner, WEEU.

Last year, WEEU hosted several local high schools on-air to discuss their spring musicals, and a director asked WEEU about potentially organizing a theater award program for Berks County high schools. After meeting with several high school theater directors, music directors, and choreographers, WEEU made the exciting decision to come together to create the Berks County Theater Awards.

The program exists to highlight the dedication of educators and directors, strengthen connections between schools and the community, showcase the power of arts education, and inspire future performers, technicians, and storytellers. Above all, this is about honoring the passion and hard work that happens behind the scenes and on stage every year.
