The Berks County Parks and Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of April 2026.
Wednesday, April 1 | Twilight Migration Full Moon Hike | 7 p.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Hike the trails at Antietam Lake Park on the evening of the full moon!

Saturday, April 4 | Spring Stroll Wellness Walk | 9 a.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Join Parks staff as they get out on the trails of Antietam Lake Park to enjoy an hour-long brisk walk with like-minded friends.

Friday, April 10 | Homeschoolers’ History Day at Beidler House | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. @ Alleghany Aqueduct Park
Homeschoolers are invited to step back in time and experience a little bit of life in the 1800s at the Beidler House. Dress up and pretend you live in a house just like the Beidler House, explore the rooms and grounds, create 19th-century crafts, and participate in different activities from the 19th century with our costumed volunteers.

Saturday, April 11 | Wildflower Walk | 9 a.m. @ Berks Heritage Center
Walk the Union Canal Trail to discover spring ephemeral wildflowers throughout the park. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water.

Saturday, April 11 | Volunteer Open House | 10 a.m. to noon @ Berks Heritage Center
Come out and learn more about volunteering for the Berks County Park system, which is looking for energetic volunteers to assist in a variety of roles.
Saturday, April 11 | Open House at the Beidler House | 10 a.m to 3 p.m. @ Alleghany Aqueduct Park
Come check out the Beidler House and see the sights around Alleghany Aqueduct Park. This historic site is only open on a few occasions per year.

Tuesday, April 14 | Trail Tales | 10 a.m. @ Bingaman House
Get wrapped up in a trail tale and discover plants and animal friends in the parks. This toddler-age program focuses on a nature topic each month, partnered with a story and a craft. Special guests and visitors may make an appearance to join in the fun! Geared towards children ages 3 to 5.

Saturday, April 18 | History Day & Heritage Center Opening | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. @ Berks Heritage Center
Calling all history lovers! Join the Berks Heritage Council and nearly 20 of its historical site members for a day of learning for all ages. Visitors will have access to both the Hiester Canal Museum and the Gruber Wagon Works.

Saturday, April 25 | Healthy Kids Day | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. @ Berks Heritage Center
Berks County Parks and YMCA of Reading & Berks County present a family fun day at the Heritage Center, filled with activities. Visit ymcarbc.org for more information and a full list of activities and vendors.
