Berks County Bear Hunt Opens

Berks County Bear Hunt Opens

From Experience Reading & Berks County

Experience Reading & Berks County, the area’s official destination marketing organization, is excited to announce the opening of Berks County Bear Hunt on Friday, April 17. Before gearing up for the hunt, please know, this is an adventure where the bears are meant to be found — not harmed.

Berks County Bear Hunt is the visitors bureau’s newest, self-guided experience passport. The free, interactive scavenger hunt is designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore the region in a fun, family-friendly way. Participants are invited to “track down” a variety of bears — and bear-themed experiences — hidden in plain sight throughout Berks County.

From local landmarks to unexpected discoveries, the hunt highlights some of the area’s attractions, including Boyertown’s beloved bear statues, Crystal Cave, Kutztown’s Golden Bears, and Bear Creek Mountain Resort. It also features businesses and tasty treats inspired by the bear theme, such as the Cub Sundae at the Peppermint Stick Candy Store. For an added bit of fun, participants will check in at hunt locations by answering a quiz question that also earns points toward prizes.

“Our experience passes are all about getting to know the area and our offerings,” explained Experience Reading & Berks President, Heather Zimmerman. “Our new Bear Hunt is a new and playful way to experience our partners and the county — whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident.”

Information about the Bear Hunt can be found on the Experience Reading & Berks website under Explore > Passport Trails. Participating in the free pass requires nothing more than signing up. The pass is instantly delivered to phones via text and email for immediate use.

Berks County Bear Hunt participants are encouraged to share their adventures on social media, #BerksCountyBearHunt. The new experience passport runs through spring and summer.
