Experience a Sweet Time in Reading & Berks County This Summer

From Experience Reading & Berks County

Experience Reading & Berks County has some tasty news to share. Visitors and locals can once again embark on a delicious journey across the region as the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) prepares to launch its popular Sweet & Salty Trail.

Now in its third year, the 2026 Sweet & Salty Trail officially opens on Friday, May 22, with a launch party at Jen & Jessie’s Creamery in Oley. Beginning at 11 a.m., the first 25 guests who stop will receive a free ice cream cone and fun swag courtesy of Experience Reading & Berks County.

The 2026 trail features more stops than ever before, including favorite ice cream shops, candy stores, pretzel bakeries, and several savory destinations. As participants explore the trail, they can check in at trail locations to earn points redeemable for fun prizes.

Getting started is easy. Participants can sign up for the mobile-exclusive passport by visiting the Experience Reading & Berks County website. Once registered, the passport is instantly delivered via text and email and is ready to use immediately. There is no app to download, and users can save the passport directly to their phone’s home screen for convenient one-tap access throughout the summer.

The Sweet & Salty Trail runs from Friday, May 22, through Tuesday, Sept. 8, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore some of Berks County’s most delicious destinations. The trail offers a perfect family or rainy-day activity and a source of fun stories to share.

And while the trail promises plenty of sweet treats and salty snacks, participants are advised that Experience Reading & Berks County cannot be held responsible for sudden cravings, extra dessert stops, or any hesitation to step on the scale afterward.
