From Safe Berks
Safe Berks is inviting the community to lace up their sneakers and stand together during the annual Walk for NO MORE on Saturday, June 20, held before Visit West Reading’s Arts on the Avenue event.
Check-in opens at 8:30 a.m. with a short program beginning at 9 a.m. Participation is free, though donations are encouraged to support the lifesaving services Safe Berks provides to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout Berks County.
The event is more than just a walk. It is a public declaration that abuse, violence, and silence do not belong in our community.
Each year, Walk for NO MORE brings together survivors, advocates, families, businesses, and community members to raise awareness, honor resilience, and remind survivors that they are not alone. Participants who register by Saturday, May 23, are guaranteed a free event t-shirt in their selected size.
This year’s program will feature the Voices for Change Award Presentation to Berks Coalition to End Homelessness and Helping Harvest, and a powerful survivor story shared by Tyler VanScyoc, featured on Hulu’s Betrayal. Tyler’s story reflects the painful realities many survivors face while also highlighting the courage it takes to reclaim healing, voice, and hope.
“Walk for NO MORE exists because every survivor deserves to be seen and heard,” said Erica Caceres, Director of Development. “This is about community coming together to say there is no more room for violence, victim blaming, or silence.”
Attendees can also enjoy light refreshments and community connection, with the event hosted by Luis Serrano.
Safe Berks encourages individuals, families, organizations, and local businesses to register, attend, donate, or become sponsors in support of the mission to end domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.

About Safe Berks
Founded in 1976, Safe Berks began when 12 women in Reading came together to provide hotline support, counseling, and shelter for survivors of domestic violence.
Originally known as Berks Women in Crisis, the organization became Safe Berks in 2016 to reflect its commitment to serving all survivors.
Today, Safe Berks provides free and lifesaving services, including emergency shelter, counseling, legal and medical advocacy, and prevention education, working to build a community free from violence.
