The Berks County Parks and Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of June 2026.

Tuesday, June 9, to Thursday, June 11 | Toddler Trail Time | 9 a.m. – noon @ Gring’s Mill
Roam the open spaces and head out onto the Union Canal Trail to discover just what makes Berks County Parks so cool. This is not a drop-off program. Parents and guardians must accompany their children. Geared towards children ages 3 to 6.
$25.00 per child. | Registration is required.

Thursday, June 11 | Folk Painting Step-by-Step: Distelfink | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Get ready for a fun night of guided painting and refreshments at the Berks County Heritage Center. You’ll have a blast exploring your creative side, creating your own version of the Distelfink. Materials are provided. Just bring yourself, your friends, and clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. Ages 16+.
$15.00 per person. | Registration is required.

Wednesday, June 17 | Drop-In Art Camp: | 9 a.m. – noon @ Berks Leisure
Adventurers ages 7 to 12, get ready! The forest is calling! Campers can expect to create art under the canopy of the Union Canal Trail and learn about the wildlife that calls the woods home. This is a drop-off program.
$20.00 per child. | Registration is required.

Thursday, June 18 | Footprints in the Snow: General Washington’s Army of 1776 | 7 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Join historian Michael Jesberger as he recounts the very real human story of those men who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence.
Free. | Registration is required.

Saturday, June 20 | AmericanaFest: America @ 250 | 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Mark your calendars to join Berks County Parks for AmericanaFest! This year’s event starts with a festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a petting zoo, kids’ crafts and activities, historical demonstrations, open museums, and food trucks.
Free. | This event is open to the public.

Saturday, June 20 | Concert: AmericanaFest: America @ 250 | 3:30 p.m. to – 8:30 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. | Blues to Bluegrass Workshop/Jams
4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. | Valley Vision (folk and Americana)
5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. | Wood Belly (bluegrass and Americana)
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Corey Arceneaux and the Zydeco Hot Peppers (Zydeco and Creole)
Bring your own chairs, blankets, and instruments, and stay the evening! Food trucks will be on site, and parking is free.

Friday, June 26 | Remarkable Reptiles w/ Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. @ Gring’s Mill Barn
Get up close and personal with some remarkable reptiles and amphibians when the Super Green Turtle Machine, a.k.a. the Sanctuary’s van, rolls into Gring’s Mill. This family program for all ages will teach all about the importance of these cold-blooded friends.

Saturday, June 27 | Adult Field Trip | 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Do you ever long for the days when you would leave school and get to go to a museum? This includes a tour of the Wagon Works and Canal Museum, a stream study program, and a visit to Epler’s Schoolhouse and the on-site Herb Garden.
$5.00 per person. | Registration is required.

Monday, June 29 | Full Moon Hike & Yoga | 7:30 p.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
Take a few deep breaths, a downward dog or two, and relax for an easy intro session of yoga before heading out onto the Union Canal Trail to take in the moonlight. Bring your own yoga mat, water, and a sturdy pair of walking shoes.
$5.00 per person. | Registration is required.
