From Albright College
Albright College will welcome alumni, families, students, and friends back to campus Sept. 25-27, for Homecoming & Family Weekend, a three-day celebration featuring athletic events, family-friendly activities, alumni gatherings, and the official reopening of one of the College’s most significant campus projects in recent years.
The highlight of the weekend will be the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Joyce Family Foundation Learning Commons, the newly renovated academic hub that houses the Gingrich Library and the Patty Parker Molnar Center for Writing Excellence. Construction on the project is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, marking a major milestone in Albright’s ongoing commitment to student success and institutional renewal.
“Reopening the library is about much more than a building,” said Dr. Debra M. Townsley, President of Albright College. “The Joyce Family Foundation Learning Commons represents our investment in the future of Albright and in the success of every student who walks through our doors. It is a space designed for collaboration, innovation, and academic achievement, and I cannot think of a better occasion than Homecoming Weekend to welcome our alumni and friends back to campus to celebrate this important milestone.”
Building on the success of last year’s Homecoming festivities, this year’s event will feature food trucks, family activities, a beer garden, an alumni reception, athletic competitions, and opportunities for prospective students and their families to experience life at Albright.
The weekend will begin on Friday evening, Sept. 25, with the Albright Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony, honoring outstanding alumni athletes and supporters whose contributions have strengthened Lion athletics and the Albright community.
Saturday, Sept. 26, will feature a full day of activities, including:
- Albright 5K and Family Fun Run.
- Admission Open House for prospective students and families.
- Homecoming athletic competitions and tailgating activities.
- Food trucks and family entertainment throughout campus.
- Beer garden and community gathering spaces.
- Evening celebrations and special events for alumni and friends.
The official reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Joyce Family Foundation Learning Commons will take place during Homecoming Weekend, giving alumni, families, and visitors their first opportunity to experience the transformed space. The Learning Commons serves as a modern academic center designed to support student learning, collaboration, research, and writing support while honoring the legacy of the Gingrich Library and the generosity of the Joyce Family Foundation and Patty Parker Molnar ‘69.
“Homecoming is one of the most meaningful traditions at Albright because it brings together generations of Lions to celebrate what makes this institution special,” said James Gaddy, Executive Vice President. “This year, we also have the opportunity to showcase the tremendous progress taking place across campus. The reopening of the Joyce Family Foundation Learning Commons demonstrates our commitment to investing in our students, strengthening the academic experience, and building a bright future for Albright College.”
Activities will continue throughout Sunday, Sept. 27, with additional opportunities for alumni, families, and friends to reconnect, explore campus, and celebrate the Albright experience.
The reopening of the Joyce Family Foundation Learning Commons represents the latest step in Albright’s continued transformation. As the College looks toward the future, Homecoming & Family Weekend offers alumni, families, and friends an opportunity to see firsthand the investments being made in the student experience and the campus community.
