Berks Community Television (BCTV) recently welcomed three students — Emma Howerter, Nash Pena Rosario, and Jake Dougherty — to its team for the summer. They will help with content creation for BCTV’s digital platforms, provide technical and control room support for studio programming in the Visions studio, and take on various roles in special projects and initiatives.
Meet the students
Emma Howerter, of Reading, is a second-year student at Cedar Crest College, majoring in public relations and minoring in digital marketing. She is an NCAA student-athlete in field hockey.
“I’m interning at Berks Community Television because I wanted to gain hands-on experience creating and publicizing media content that informs and engages the local community while also working closely with my mentors,” she said.
During her time with BCTV, Emma is most eager to learn about public relations, media production, and content creation while working alongside the local community. Her ultimate goal is to become an International Entertainment Public Relations Specialist.
Emma enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends, usually hiking or fishing. “And of course, my dog, Owen, is always by my side,” she closed by saying.

Nashla “Nash/Nana” Pena Rosario is a rising senior at Reading Senior High School. She served as the secretary of RHS Impact, a student-founded club, is an active member of the student council, NHS, and LinkCrew, a spotlight operator for the school musical, and a babysitter for her brothers. After graduation, Nash sees herself pursuing a journalism degree at a college in a major city.
“I was interested in an internship in my community, and after extensive research, BCTV caught my eye. I was immediately drawn to their approach and efforts to inform the community of Berks County. The fact that an opportunity like this is offered to students was incredible in itself, and I knew I wanted to be part of this experience,” she said.
During her time with BCTV, Nash is most eager to learn about the process of bringing programs from the studio and the field to viewers at home. She also hopes to potentially create her own story.
Nash enjoys spending her free time reading and writing — specifically biographies, memoirs, and academic-structured books. She also enjoys digital creation, baking, and solving Sudoku puzzles.

Jake Dougherty, of Sinking Spring, is a senior at Penn State University, majoring in film production. He is a videographer and editor with CommAgency at Penn State and a camera operator at the Reading Fightin Phils.
During his time with BCTV, Jake is most eager to learn about DaVinci Resolve and editing workflows, and gain new skills while collaborating with others at our Reading-based nonprofit community media hub. His ultimate goal is to become a Director of Photography.
Jake enjoys spending his free time hanging out with friends, whether by lifting at the gym or going out, and watching movies and shows.

Emma Howerter, Nash Pena Rosario, and Jake Dougherty, we look forward to watching you grow during your time at BCTV!
