From Commute PA
With seasonal fuel costs putting a pinch on commuters’ wallets, Commute PA has officially announced the launch of its July “Skip the Pump” challenge. The month-long initiative is strategically designed to incentivize smart, sustainable travel options across the region, providing local drivers with a reliable roadmap to give both their vehicles and their bank accounts a much-needed summer break.
As summer travel peaks and high prices at the pump continue to strain household budgets, finding ways to cut down on solo driving has never been more critical. Throughout the month of July, Commute PA is challenging community members to bypass the gas station and opt for smarter, more collaborative ways to travel. The campaign emphasizes that green commuting is an environmental win and a powerful financial strategy. By shifting habits, every single trip logged quickly adds up to big, real-world savings for participants.
Whether commuters choose to team up with coworkers for a carpool, share the ride in a vanpool, utilize public transit networks, lace up their sneakers to walk, or hop on a bicycle, there are diverse options available for every lifestyle. In addition, the challenge embraces the modern workforce by recognizing the ultimate way to skip the pump is to eliminate the drive altogether; those who telecommute or work from home are also invited to join the challenge and watch their savings stack up.
“We want to show drivers they have power over their daily expenses,” said Matt Boyer, Commute PA Executive Director. “Making a small adjustment to your weekly routine can potentially keep hundreds of dollars in your pocket over time.”
How to participate and win big
To help residents jumpstart their savings journey, Commute PA has streamlined the challenge into three simple steps:
- Choose your mode: Effortlessly substitute a solo drive by opting to carpool, vanpool, ride transit, walk, bike, or telecommute.
- Log your trips: Easily track your progress by recording at least four commute trips in Commute PA during July.
- Win big: As an exciting bonus for making the switch, meeting the four-trip minimum automatically enters participants into a drawing to win one of four $100.00 gift cards!
Getting started is completely seamless. Commuters ready to save money, reduce traffic congestion, and earn rewards can simply head over to my.commutepa.org. The user-friendly hub allows participants to instantly connect with carpool partners, discover local transit routes, effortlessly record their commutes, and more.
Don’t let gas prices dictate your summer budget. Join the movement, skip the pump, and start racking up the rewards today!
