From Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site
On Saturday, Aug. 1, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site will commemorate its establishment as a national park by pouring iron on site for the first time in 143 years! Programming will start at 1 p.m. with the beginning of the summer charcoal burn.
The iron pour will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities throughout the afternoon and learn from various community partners about the region’s impact on American industrial history over the past 250 years.
For just $17.76, visitors will have the opportunity to create their own custom-designed sand mold to be poured in iron later that evening. Commemorative medallions will also be cast during the event and made available for purchase at a later date. For more information, visit the park website.
