From Borough of Wyomissing
The Borough of Wyomissing is pleased to introduce the Memorial Benches in the Parklands of Wyomissing program, a new opportunity for residents and families to honor loved ones through a lasting tribute in one of the community’s most treasured public spaces.
The program allows individuals and families to dedicate a memorial bench within approved locations in the Parklands of Wyomissing. Each bench will provide a quiet place to rest, reflect, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Parklands, while also helping enhance the experience for residents and visitors.
“When you live here and raise a family here, the Parklands become part of your story,” said Borough Council President Kristen Gajewski. “They’re where kids explore, where families walk, where neighbors cross paths, and where people find quiet moments along the trails or near the creek. This program is a thoughtful way for families to honor someone they love in a place that continues to bring people together.”
Memorial bench locations will be reviewed and approved by the Borough to ensure placement is appropriate, consistent with Parklands planning, and respectful of the natural environment. Bench purchases will be made twice each year, in February and August. All required paperwork, approvals, plaque information, and payment must be submitted before orders are placed. The Department of Public Works will assist with the coordination and installation of approved memorial benches.
“Our Public Works team takes a lot of pride in caring for the Parklands,” said Public Works Director Jim Babb. “These benches are more than just park amenities. They become part of the landscape and part of someone’s story. We want to make sure each bench is placed thoughtfully, installed properly, and maintained in a way that reflects the importance of the tribute.”
The Memorial Benches in the Parklands of Wyomissing program is intended to provide a lasting and respectful way to remember loved ones while supporting the continued care and enjoyment of the Parklands.
Program details, guidelines, and application materials are now available on the Parks and Recreation page on the Borough of Wyomissing website.
